Thanks, everybody! We’ve got a lot of work ahead of us, but I think it’s going to be great fun! This page brings back a lot of memories! This was one of the few that I shaded and I remember that it took forever back in the day! I’m pretty sure it was in ’96 and I had an old Mac Quadra 630 with 4 whole MB of RAM!
I had an external drive that I used just as a scratch disk for Photoshop. The filter I used to make the large gas planet in the upper left took something crazy like 8 hours to run! (We were doing the art @ 600dpi). We didn’t have the storage capacity to give the printer computer files for the whole of the book, so I printed out each page on my laser printer and they used those to make the plates! Things were definitely more primitive back then! I could have delivered the whole book on a thumb drive these days!
